First round: Drew Lock, QB, Missouri

It’s hard for me to believe Lock will be available when the Bengals are on the clock with the 10th overall pick.

He will have to get past the Raiders at 4, the Giants at 6, whoever might trade ahead of the Giants at 5, and anyone who might trade up ahead of the Broncos at 10.

Then there are the Broncos at 10.

The Bengals may not be able to sit on the 11th pick and wait for Lock to fall to them, but he may be their top pick one way or another.

Lock is a coach’s dream off the field, and a bit of a project on it. He would need a year or at least part of one to work on his game behind Andy Dalton, and the Bengals can afford him that luxury. They have no dead money on Dalton’s contract this year or next year, so they can trade him away at any time with no consequence.

Lock has a big arm and can make plays from the pocket or on the move. He’s a phenomenal athlete and the type of person you would want to build a franchise around. The tools are there. Someone like Zac Taylor is paid to put all of the pieces together.
