Fourth round: Kris Boyd, CB, Texas

Kris Boyd is a well-built prospect at the cornerback position with size — 5’11” 201 pounds — and speed — 4.45 in the 40-yard dash.

Boyd threw up 19 reps on the bench press at the Scouting Combine, showing off his upper body strength and that is really a big part of his game overall.

Boyd is a reactive player who can change direction and close on the ball quickly.

The 49ers have found out the hard way in recent years that you can never have too many good cornerbacks. They have drafted high, spent on free agents, and tried just about everything they can.

Something eventually has to stick.
