Round 4, Pick #108: Joejuan Williams, CB, Vanderbilt

This pick comes with a huge disclaimer. That disclaimer being the fact that Dave Gettleman thinks corners are about as valuable as yesterday’s newspaper.

But come on. JoeJuan Williams in the 4th round? You just can’t pass up that kind of value.

This is a player that, had he just skipped the 40-yard dash at the combine, might be looking at a 2nd round grade in an extremely thin corner class.

Round 5, Pick #133: Tytus Howard, OT, Alabama St.

The Giants have invested in their offensive line under Gettleman and it’s damn-near the only position group getting better, but it still needs copious amounts of work.

So, bookend Nate Solder with a guy who is ready to play right tackle.

Tytus Howard may be a small school kid coming from Alabama State, but go watch his tape at the Senior Bowl and against Auburn this past season. He’s raw, powerful, and athletic as hell. My favorite part though?

He gets to stay at right tackle where he played in college. Most of these draft-eligible tackles play left in college, then spend a few years learning how to write cursive with the opposite hand in the NFL.

Round 5, Pick #142: Daylon Mack, DL, Texas A&M

Unlike Dave Gettleman’s unwillingness to take corners in the NFL Draft, he sure does love himself some defensive lineman.

There are fire plugs, there are run stoppers, and there are fridges on the interior defensive line. Then there’s Daylon Mack.

Imagine if you were to shrink Kawann Short two inches, then give him twenty pounds. That’s Daylon Mack. He’s also someone Gettleman isn’t, or shouldn’t, going to let go by him in the 5th round.
