The worst NFL draft pick of all time by every team
By Erik Lambert
4. Buffalo Bills
If there is one thing that is true about the NFL, it’s not about if you play well all the time. It’s only when you play well that matters. For veterans, it’s only about doing so in a contract year. For draft prospects, it’s about doing so in your final college season. Aaron Maybin is a perfect example of this. He only played two seasons at Penn State, but his final one in 2008 proved the most fruitful as he finished with 12 sacks and 20 tackles for a loss.
That combined with his impressive physical profile was enough to convince the Buffalo Bills that they may have found their next great pass rusher at #4 overall in the 2009 draft. Unfortunately he didn’t endear himself to defensive coordinator Perry Fewell who didn’t see enough from him in practice to warrant playing much on Sundays. That did not change when Chan Gailey became the head coach the next year. Maybin played 25 games for Buffalo and had no sacks.
He was out of the league by 2013.
