29. Seattle Seahawks

San Diego State. Dan McGwire . 29. player. 36. . QB

Anytime a quarterback is taken in the 1st round, expectations are high. That’s a nod by the team that he’s expected to be a franchise guy who can carry them to success in the future. It was no different when Dan McGwire went 16th overall in 1991. The kid certainly looked imposing. He was 6’8, which is an exceedingly rare size for that position. No doubt the team felt if he learned to process defenses quickly, he would be a nightmare to get on the ground due to his size alone.

They quickly found out that his size was the only feature that stood out. McGwire began his career as a backup in Seattle and never really did enough to convince coaches that should change. He started two games his first two years, throwing four interceptions without a touchdown pass. What makes this pick even more miserable for the Seahawks? Brett Favre was on the board when they selected McGwire.
