27. player. 42. . DE. Stanford. Solomon Thomas

This will be a somewhat controversial choice because it’s only been two seasons to this point. Usually, the saying goes that one should wait for three before making a proper declaration on whether a player is a bust or not. Yet the evidence is hard to ignore at this point. Solomon Thomas was the 3rd overall pick in 2017. He was expected to become one of the better defensive ends in the NFL after dominating down the stretch in his career at Stanford.

Two seasons later and he has four sacks. It grew so frustrating that the San Francisco 49ers began to take snaps away and giving them to other players. Now they’ve traded for Pro Bowler Dee Ford from Kansas City with expectations they could be in line to draft Nick Bosa as well. If this happens, it unquestionably cements Thomas as the biggest bust in modern franchise history.
