20. Minnesota Vikings

WR. South Carolina. Troy Williamson . 20. player. 60.

The NFL has an obsession with speed at the wide receiver position. It’s not hard to understand why. Big plays on offense can be devastating to the psyche of a defense and few things deliver them more than a long bomb to a receiver down the field. However, being able to run fast is only part of the equation. There is so much more about being a good receiver in the NFL. None more so than being able to actually catch the football.

This was something the Minnesota Vikings seemed to gloss over when they made Troy Williamson the 7th overall pick. He had speed. There was never a question of that. What he didn’t have were a lot of catches in college. Only 91 in three years. They soon found out the reason. Williamson had terrible hands. Really bad. He constantly struggled with bobbles and drops throughout his three years with the team.

Fittingly, he had just 79 catches in his Vikings career.
