2. Atlanta Falcons

Nebraska. Bruce Pickens . 2. player. 44. . DB

It feels like a lot of players benefitted in the draft during the 1980s and 1990s because they played for powerhouse programs. This despite indications they may not have been that good individually. Just look at Nebraska. They were dominant during those two decades with several of its players going high in the NFL draft each year. Bruce Pickens reaped the rewards of starting for them for three years when he went 3rd overall to the Atlanta Falcons in 1991.

This despite evidence that he was little more than just a guy at Nebraska, having just four total interceptions in his college career. Experts warned he’d been shielded from having to play top passing offenses in college and was getting by on being a great athlete. Sure enough, he was exposed early on in Atlanta. He made it less than three seasons with the team before he was sent packing, collecting just two interceptions in 27 games.
