The worst NFL draft pick of all time by every team
By Erik Lambert
19. Miami Dolphins
Another example of a team growing overly fond of a player’s athletic gifts and not bothering to make sure whether he’s any good at the football thing. Keep in mind that Dion Jordan was 6’6 and over 260 lbs at Oregon and was a former wide receiver. He was a freak in terms of a mixture of size, speed, and quickness. Those kinds of advantage must mean he dominated at Oregon right? Not really. His best year there resulted in a modest 7.5 sacks.
So it was apparent that for all his physical gifts, he had no clue how to maximize them. That didn’t stop the Dolphins who actually traded up to the #3 spot to get him. They thought they’d gotten the eventual successor to Cameron Wake. What they got instead was an immature guy with substance abuse problems. He was suspended multiple times in Miami, including for the entire 2015 season. He also failed to play in 2016 as well.
He was finally released in 2017 having collected just three sacks.
