16. Kansas City Chiefs

player. 124. . OG. West Virginia. Brian Jozwiak . 16

He’ll forever be known among draft enthusiasts as the guy taken one pick before Leslie O’Neal in 1986. O’Neal went on to have 132.5 career sacks and reach six Pro Bowl. To think the Kansas City Chiefs would take Jozwiak, who didn’t project to stay at tackle in the NFL which he’d played at West Virginia, is a reminder of how bad their organization was at that point in time. Jozwiak was a solid player but he had problems not befitting the 7th overall pick.

He failed to make any sort of big impression when he arrived and even failed to crack the starting lineup. Across three seasons, Jozwiak started in a mere three games. Then it all came to an end when he suffered a hip injury, forcing him to prematurely retire. That pick did nothing for the franchise in the grand scheme and only lengthened their stay at the bottom of the NFL during that period.
