The worst NFL draft pick of all time by every team
By Erik Lambert
15. Jacksonville Jaguars
Sometimes it doesn’t go the way it should’ve. Derrick Harvey was a good football player coming out of Florida. He had 19.5 sacks over his final two seasons and 30.5 tackles for loss. At 6’5, 255 lbs he looked like a guy who was born to hunt quarterbacks in the NFL. That’s why the Jacksonville Jaguars made him the 8th overall pick in 2008. Things went wrong from the start as Harvey held out on his rookie contract until the end of August, missing all of training camp and the preseason.
Keep in mind that was before the rookie wage scale was a thing in the NFL, so he stood to make a lot of money regardless. People started to wonder if football was his passion or merely his job. They found out over the next three years. After posting 8.5 sacks as a junior at Florida, he had eight total in his NFL career. It was a colossal misfire for the Jaguars that set their defense back considerably during that period.
