1. Nick Bosa, EDGE, Ohio State

There’s no surprise here. The top option for the 49ers if they stay with the second overall pick is almost unquestionably to draft Nick Bosa out of Ohio State.

Bosa is an extremely advanced edge player for his age and experience, utilizing an expanded pass rush repertoire to wreck games for opposing offenses.

Like his brother Joey, Nick is capable of dominating games on the edge not only as a pass rusher but as a run defender. His greatest asset? His strong hands.

Bosa can win initially with quickness, but combining his quickness off the ball with such a violent punch? It’s a deadly combination.

The 49ers acquired Dee Ford from the Chiefs this offseason, and getting him for a second round pick was a steal. I think pairing Ford up with Bosa will give opposing teams nightmares.

If your quarterback is taking a deep drop, you had better hope your tackles get out of their stance quickly. Bosa’s diverse skill set makes it nearly impossible for teams to keep just one player assigned to him.

With Ford on the other side, the 49ers should be able to get off the field rather easily on most 3rd down situations.
