The San Francisco 49ers are hoping they don’t pick in the top five again for a long time. They need to make their top pick in the 2019 NFL Draft count.

The San Francisco 49ers were hoping for a massive jump in 2018 with Jimmy Garoppolo getting a new contract, spending the offseason with the team, and another year for everyone under Kyle Shanahan in a new era for this historic franchise.

Unfortunately, the injury bug bit the 49ers — hard.

San Francisco was unable to contend in the NFC West after an early season injury to Garoppolo, who played in just three games (in which the 49ers went 1-2).

With Garoppolo coming back healthy this season, expectations are understandably renewed for the 49ers.

In addition to Garoppolo’s return, the 49ers got some major reinforcements on the defensive side of the ball in the form of big money free agent acquisition Kwon Alexander at linebacker and pass rusher Dee Ford, one of the NFL’s top closers in 2018.

After making a couple of splash moves in the early portion of the free agent signing period, the 49ers have turned their attention to the 2019 NFL Draft, where they own the second overall selection.

Because the 49ers’ division rival Cardinals appear poised to take Kyler Murray with the top overall pick, the 49ers should be able to go with the top overall player on their own board.

What will John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan do to get this team back on top of the NFC West?

Here are the 49ers’ top options in the 2019 NFL Draft with their first round pick.
