Risner’s upbringing in small-town Colorado

According to the latest census, Wiggins, Colorado has 887 residents. With one stop light and one gas station, Wiggins is about as small as small towns get. And no one seems more proud of their hometown than Dalton Risner.

So, where does that pride come from? Well, it comes from enjoying the finer things in life, and when I say the finer things in life, I actually mean the harder things in life like working.

In fact, when asked what he would be doing on an off-day back in Wiggins, Dalton responded by saying, “Probably go lay some new fencing with the boys or maybe herd some cattle.”

Needless to say, if you have ever watched Dalton Risner play, all of these details make sense. This is one of the meanest dudes I’ve ever seen on tape.

Three-year captain

In the 107-year history of Kansas State football there has only been five people to be voted captain in three seasons, Dalton Risner is one of them. As early as his redshirt sophomore season, at the age of 20, Dalton was voted on by his peers to lead their team.

He then goes into detail about what type of leader he is, and why he is never afraid of confronting someone about doing the wrong thing.

RisnerUp Foundation

How many 23-year olds are aware of their impact enough to start a foundation while still in school?

After his junior season, Dalton began to realize the reach he now had in Manhattan, and around the Kansas State program, so he used that reach as a way to impact the lives of young people.

At one point Dalton says, “I know I didn’t work hard to be 6’5″, the good Lord blessed me with that, but I can work hard to give back to those around me”
