Quarterbacks

Kyler Murray, Oklahoma

I don’t think the Giants will be able to get their hands on Murray. He’s probably going to the Cardinals and if he doesn’t, he’d probably go to the Oakland Raiders.

Projection: Likely top pick, no later than 4th

Dwayne Haskins, Ohio State

Haskins grew up a Giants fan, so naturally there have been dots connected here. He also probably needs a year of seasoning in the NFL, so the fit is natural in that way as well.

For some reason, though, I find myself doubting the  Giants would take him.

Haskins is probably the perfect player for this team to build around for the future, but will they do it? He showed this past year at Ohio State he’s got the arm to make all of the throws, and he’s blown people away with his work habits.

Projection: Top 10

Drew Lock, Missouri

Drew Lock has gotten a variety of comparisons to former NFL quarterbacks with the way he plays the game, but the best one is probably Jay Cutler.

Lock is the version of Cutler everyone wants to be around and hang out with, though, not the grumpy, dejected guy who demanded a trade because Josh McDaniels hurt his feelings.

Lock may have the most exciting arm talent in this draft, and one of the most likable personalities. He will be hard for the Giants to pass on because of his leadership qualities, big arm, and college experience.

Prediction: Top 10

Daniel Jones, Duke

Daniel Jones is the latest disciple of quarterback expert David Cutcliffe, who has a significant connection to the Manning family.

Jones undoubtedly already knows Eli Manning well as the Manning brothers spend time around the Duke facility training and throwing with Cutcliffe in the offseason.

Because Jones has likely at least spoken with Manning before, it’s possible that relational equity could help ease the awkwardness of the transition between quarterbacks for the Giants. They may have to move up a bit to get him in the first, though.
