Other needs to address

As is the case with every team picking in the top 10 of this year’s draft, the Bills have plenty of needs to address and will need to utilize this high draft standing to add depth to a roster that has undergone so much change already.

Even though Buffalo invested heavily in John Brown and Cole Beasley, wide receiver is not off the table with the 9th or 40th overall selection. Those guys are both 30 or older this season and the Bills’ roster still lacks a true ‘alpha’ at the receiver position.

Their willingness to trade for Antonio Brown is indicative that they are aware of that as well, and even the combination of Beasley and Brown doesn’t accomplish what AB would have in Buffalo.

The Bills could also upgrade their depth at the linebacker position and add some youth at tight end. They signed Tyler Kroft this offseason and will give him every chance to be ‘the guy’ but there are a lot of really good players at tight end in this draft.

The Bills didn’t make huge commitments to Kevin Johnson or EJ Gaines in free agency, so cornerback could be another area this team looks at taking a shot somewhere in the draft.

With free agency in the rearview, it’s clear the Bills have worked hard at positioning themselves to be able to take the top players on their board come time for the draft, where last year they really had to get a first-round quarterback.

They aren’t in a similar position at any specific area in this year’s draft, which is great news.
