3. Edge players

Not everyone is going to be able to get their hands on Nick Bosa of Ohio State. As a matter of fact, I think you can put him in a red jersey at this point, it just depends if it will be with Arizona or San Francisco.

It’s not likely Josh Allen of Kentucky makes it out of the top 3-5 picks, though it would be fun to see the Bills build with franchise cornerstones at quarterback and edge both with the name Josh Allen.

Despite the fact that Buffalo is not likely to get Bosa or Allen, they will be able to fortify their edge positions with youth in this draft class, and it wouldn’t be a bad idea to look to someone early.

Though Lorenzo Alexander is seemingly ageless, and Jerry Hughes is showing signs of being the same, the Bills need to start looking to the future. Hughes and Alexander combined for 13.5 sacks last season.

2016 first-round pick Shaq Lawson has not been the impact player the Bills needed when they took him a couple of years ago, and managed just four sacks in a career-high 14 games this past season.

Trent Murphy and Eddie Yarbrough are solid role players, but the Bills could use a game-changer off the edge, and they could get it in the form of Mississippi State’s Montez Sweat, Florida State’s Brian Burns, Rashan Gary, or Clelin Ferrell in round one.

Beyond round one, the Bills could look to someone like Michigan’s Chase Winovich as someone who could provide constant energy off the edge.
