1. Interior defensive line (IDL)

In terms of the talent on the Bills’ roster right now, their need on the interior defensive line is at least arguable in comparison to their need for some youth off the edge or even a young offensive lineman.

At pick no. 9 overall, they are going to be in really good position to take a very good player at any one of three positions.

The highest priorities have to be on the defensive front seven where this year’s draft talent is elite.

Therefore, I think the Bills’ top NFL Draft need in 2019 is on the interior defensive line. When you lose someone like Kyle Williams, you lose more than you can adequately replace in one year. The Bills are going to try to do this by committee with 2018 third-round pick Harrison Smith, Star Lotulelei, and recently re-signed Jordan Phillips.

With that said, the Bills need a true penetrating 3T (three technique) defensive tackle for their scheme. While Oliver has played some nose tackle and multiple different techniques throughout his collegiate career, he’s going to be a force in the NFL at the 3T defensive tackle position.

He’s not the only player the Bills could target, but with that top pick in the draft, they could be looking at a player like Oliver or perhaps even Quinnen Williams.

At some point in this draft, the Bills need to find a guy who can penetrate and make plays from the interior defensive line.
