Jacksonville Jaguars first-round targets after signing Nick Foles
Ed Oliver
The Jaguars have one of the best defenses in the NFL but recently had to make several financially motivated cuts. One of those cuts was former pro-bowl defensive tackle, Malik Jackson. Jackson was a pivotal piece to the “Sacksonville” moniker and his absence leaves a glaring hole in the center of their defensive line that needs to be addressed.
Somebody who would fill that void and provide a seamless transition is Houston’s Ed Oliver. The Jaguars covet a tackle that can play in the 3-technique and get upfield to rush the passer and that is exactly what Oliver would give them. He has a truly special get-off, as he explodes off the line of scrimmage when the ball is snapped and while he is a little undersized for the position, Oliver shows elite traits when it comes to his power as well.
The 6’2″, 290 pounder can give Jacksonville that needed inside penetration while also providing stout run stopping ability that would only make the Duval defense even scarier. Oliver may not fill one of the bigger needs for the Jaguars, but he would absolutely ensure that that elite defensive unit continues their dominate ways.
