Site expert Sayre Bedinger joined the NFL Mocks podcast for a full first-round 2019 NFL mock draft projection.

On this episode of the NFL Mocks Podcast from FanSided, host Brooks Austin and NFL Mocks site expert Sayre Bedinger trade off picks one after another in the 2019 NFL Draft to complete a full first-round mock draft.

For this mock draft, there were no trades involved to keep things flowing. Brooks took the odd selections and Sayre took the evens.

We don’t want to spoil too much but, here’s a little preview of what went down in this projection of the first-round of the NFL Draft.

Seven edge players go in the top 32

In a draft class with so much premium defensive line talent, this mock draft scenario played out as it should have with edge defenders flying off the board early and often.

For comparison, there were only two defensive ends that warranted a first round pick last year. In fact, seven edge defenders would be the most taken in the first round since the 2011 NFL Draft.

That year’s class included names like Von Miller, J.J. Watt, Robert Quinn, Ryan Kerrigan, Adrian Clayborn, Cam Jordan, Muhammad Wilkerson, and Cam Heyward, who all came off the board in the first round.

Five DTs come off the board

Not to beat a dead horse, but there is no shortage of talent on the defensive line in this draft and Clemson Tigers fans will be happy because the NFL Mocks podcast might be the only show predicting both starting defensive tackles come off the board in the first round. (Spoiler Alert)

Josh Jacobs falls out of the first

Due to a late run on defensive back talent in this mock draft scenario, Josh Jacobs, the lone first-round talent at the running back position, falls out of round one to make one lucky fanbase extremely happy on day two.

Clemson the new Bama?

The Tigers added another three names to their list of defensive lineman drafted in this mock, with defensive end Austin Bryant still to come. Since 2008, Dabo Swinney’s first year as head coach, Clemson will have sent at least 17 defensive linemen to the NFL after this draft.

Alabama and LSU are the only two programs that are even close to that number in that timespan.

Thanks again to Sayre Bedinger for joining us on this episode of the NFL Mocks Podcast brought to you by FanSided.
