4th Round

31. . DT. Western Illinois. Khalen Saunders . 5. player

Saunders was a bit of an unknown when the pre-draft process began a few months ago. That changed during the Senior Bowl when he impressed with his strong, physical presence on the interior. Not only could he hold his ground against the run, but he found ways to generate pressure up the middle. These are all traits the Giants need more of at the front of their defense.

4th Round (via CLE)

Central Michigan. Sean Bunting . 6. player. 31. . CB

The 3-4 defense is one that demands cornerbacks who can survive on their own for periods of time in man coverage. This typically requires a mixture of size, athleticism, and sound technique to accomplish. Some were concerned Bunting didn’t have the speed necessary but he showed otherwise at the combine. He is a sticky corner who gives QBs small windows to throw into.
