Denver Broncos: B

This was a highly improbable move from the Denver Broncos.

Just one year after trading for Keenum, the Broncos were on the books for at least $10 million of his $21 million cap hit, and Keenum’s base salary of $18 million looked impossible to trade.

It seemed like the Broncos would have to take that entire $10 million dead money hit and release Keenum, but they saved $3 million of that and wound up saving $14 million overall while also picking up a 2020 sixth-round pick.

The only reason this grade is not an A for the Broncos is because of how poor of an investment this was in the first place, and the fact that they are still eating $7 million (the price of a solid starting player at another position) on their dead cap pile, which is quickly becoming one of the highest in the NFL.
