Perhaps no position group will endure more of an adjustment than the linebackers in the Chiefs new system. Suddenly they’ve gone from two outside linebackers who are pass rushers with two inside linebackers to one middle linebacker and two outside linebackers who aren’t pass rushers. This demands a different sort of athlete and it feels like the team isn’t prepared for it.

Anthony Hitchens can man one of the linebacker spots but Reggie Ragland may be in a difficult spot. If nothing else they need more help. David Long looks like the modern type of linebacker. What he may lack in size he makes up for in speed, quickness, and coverage prowess. He can cover lots of ground and can arrive with authority as a tackler.
