Jachai (not so) Polite EDGE, Florida

Where do we start? There’s the obviously concerning things like Polite’s 4.84 40-yard dash. Even more concerning is his 1.71 10-yard split. Both numbers are by no means elite level stuff (for comparison Brian Burns, a similar body type & athlete ran 4.53). But that’s just the start.

When asked about his interview with the Green Bay Packers (a team by the way that is in dire need of a pass rusher) Polite responded, “They were bashing me…They were trying to figure out my character. That’s their job. They’re supposed to do it. I’m not being a crybaby or anything. That’s their job. I just didn’t know to expect it.”

He had similar remarks when asked about the visit with the 49ers and when asked which interview which team’s interview he felt best with he responded, “The Rams because they didn’t bash me. Everybody else picking at my game.”

Then to top it all off, when asked a specific question about his film Polite revealed that he never even watches his own game tape.

Just for review we’ve got a player that doesn’t respond well to constructive criticism, and he isn’t self critical because he never watches film of himself. Do either one of those things sound appealing to a general manager investing assets and draft capital?
