Here’s a look at 5 offensive players in the 2019 NFL Draft that should be getting more attention during the draft process.

With the 2019 NFL Draft just around the corner, the over-analyzing and hot takes just for the sake of having hot takes are running rampant around the league.

While the likes of Kyler Murray, Dwayne Haskins, and combine-legend, D.K. Metcalf are at the forefront of the discussions, it’s important to shine a light on some lesser known or under-the-radar prospects that could help out your favorite team’s offense.

Here’s a look at five offensive players in the 2019 NFL Draft that should be getting more attention during the process.

Will Grier – QB – West Virginia

Will Grier had a lot of buzz early in the 2018 season. In fact, he was in the mix as a Heisman candidate during West Virginia’s impressive 8-1 start. Since then, Grier’s hype-train has slowed down considerably.

The Mountaineers dropped their final two regular season games of the year, despite stellar performances by Grier. They were then blown-out in their bowl game after Grier chose to forgo the game to prepare for the Senior Bowl. When it was finally time to showcase his skills during Senior Bowl week, Grier had some ups and downs as well.

There were reports that he had accuracy issues throughout practices and didn’t do much to help himself after he was chosen to start the game for the South squad. He completed 50 percent of his eight drop backs for 61 yards.

That being said, it seems as though this minor hiccup in the process is causing evaluators to overlook his overall résumé. This is a guy with a 21-6 record in his collegiate career (15-6 at WV and 6-0 at UF) who was the third most efficient passer in the country with a 175.5 rating in 2018, and that’s while having the fourth highest yards per attempt (9.7).

He also saved his best performance of the season for when the lights were the brightest as he went toe-to-toe with Heisman winner and presumed first round pick, Kyler Murray. He threw for 539 yards and had 5 total TD’s in an absolute classic, albeit in a losing effort, but his NFL level skills were on full-display.

The positives for Grier seem to far outweigh the negatives. His tape is terrific and he meets just about all of the unwritten rules that the NFL likes in a signal caller but he’s still not getting the talk of the drafts other top QB’s. While it’s Dwayne Haskins, Kyler Murray, Drew Lock, and Daniel Jones getting all the first round hype, Grier is every bit as ready to produce at the next level.
