Kyler Murray’s Scouting Combine measurements a huge win
Heisman-winning quarterback Kyler Murray solidified his status as the top quarterback in the 2019 NFL Draft with his measurements at the Combine.
Oklahoma Sooners quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray was measured at the 2019 Scouting Combine.
The results are in, and Murray’s measurements are a huge win for him.
Not every player’s measurements are as critical as this guy’s. Everyone wanted to know Murray’s official height, how much bulk he had to go with his height.
Also because Murray is smaller, everyone was interested to know how big his hands are.
By all accounts, these measurements are a significant win for Murray. He checked in at half an inch shorter than Russell Wilson when he was at the Scouting Combine and his hand size is bigger than Baker Mayfield’s last year.
The great thing about these numbers is, while there aren’t a ton of quarterbacks in the NFL this size, they have been proven to be a non-issue for guys in the past. Specifically, Wilson.
Murray is still a smaller quarterback, but this official measurement should solidify his status as the QB1 of this class. He’s certainly got the most dynamic skill set, and with people assuming he would come in at under 5-10 or even 5-9, these numbers are fantastic news.
Oklahoma’s website listed Murray at 5-foot-10, 195 pounds. He’s clearly been working at bulking up a bit. That kind of weight at 5-foot-10 is not easy to gain in short order, so it’s likely Murray has no trouble keeping his weight up.
Some of the questions about his height were silly enough already, as his height never showed up as a deficiency on game tape. His hand size never showed up as a deficiency either. People just love to try as hard as they possibly can to find ways why certain people who don’t fit the traditional mold won’t work out.
This guy can play, and now he can match up. He’s not going to be the biggest quarterback in the league by any means, but he’s a stud and these measurements confirm that size is not going to be an issue.
