2019 NFL Draft: Top 5 offensive tackle rankings
3.) Jonah Williams, Alabama
There are rumors that Jonah Williams may have to kick inside to guard, or even center (both of which he played during his time at Alabama). Assuming he measures up to NFL tackles in terms of arm length and wingspan, he is well beyond technically sound enough to play tackle in the NFL and play it well.
This is a seasoned young man who can make an impact on any team’s roster immediately.
The first thing you notice from Williams is that he’s not very physically imposing, but his hat, eyes, and hands are almost always in the correct place.
Take the following clip for example, where Williams recognizes the defender is trying to cross his face and washes the defender across the hole and springs the back.
My only concern with Williams is his overall athleticism. He wins with technique in college but sometimes technique alone is not enough at the NFL level.
I also worry about his tendency to be a leaner in the run game, something you’ll notice in this clip.
