Tony Bergstrom (OG, Oakland Raiders)

What really hurts about this choice is it should’ve been defensive tackle La’Roi Glover. The Raiders had him for two years, sending him over to Europe to develop where he played well only to inexplicably waive him in 1998. He went on to six Pro Bowls and 83.5 career sacks. Instead they’re left with Tony Bergstrom. The Utah tackle arrived via the 3rd round in 2012 and stuck with the team for four seasons. His first three were uneventful but in 2015 he shuffled in and out of the line while helping Derek Carr reach his first Pro Bowl. Not a huge contribution, but it’s something.

Brian Dawkins (S, Philadelphia Eagles)

The Eagles were another of the teams who took advantage of the compensatory process before it was truly set in stone. Back in 1996, teams were still awarded 2nd round picks. Philadelphia didn’t waste their chance when they secured the 61st pick that year, grabbing an energetic and passionate young man out of Clemson named Brian Dawkins. All they got was one of the greatest safeties in NFL history. The inspirational leader for an entire era of great Eagles teams who went to nine Pro Bowls, intercepted 37 passes, and sacked the quarterback 26 times.
