A 2019 NFL mock free agency? What exactly is that? Just what it sounds like. An attempt to make the free agency period into a mock draft.

The idea is simple. I will cover the top 30 upcoming free agents this offseason and determine where they will ultimately end up and for what reasons. Some players will remain with their original teams. Others won’t. That is how every year goes. It’s a matter of figuring out where the surprises might end up being and how those could end up swinging the balance of power in the AFC and NFC.

Will there be a few shockers this time around? Of course. Just don’t expect any of them to come from the pass rusher market because when it comes to free agency, that never happens.

The reality of today’s NFL is simple. When you have a great pass rusher in your midst, you do everything in your power to ensure he remains on the team. Don’t expect things to be any different for the Dallas Cowboys regarding Demarcus Lawrence. They chose to franchise tag him last year because they weren’t certain he was worth a lucrative extension.

Then he delivered another Pro Bowl season and now the price just went up. Thus far the two sides haven’t come to an agreement. If that continues into March, all expectations are that Dallas will use the franchise tag for a second time. Whether that is just a temporary measure to buy time is uncertain, but rest assured that Lawrence isn’t going anywhere.
