Washington Redskins Deliver Another Strong Draft
By Craig Stofko
ROUND SIX: GARY JENNINGS, WR, West Virginia
The simulations I ran consistently had WRs available in the late rounds that I expected to be long gone. I waited to take a WR because I, unlike almost everyone else, think the Redskins have a respectable and talented if unproven, group of receivers. I really believe that had Cam Sims and Robert Davis not been injured in preseason last year that Paul Richardson and Josh Doctson would have been playing backup roles to them by October.
Sims and Davis, 6’5 215 and 6’3 213 respectively are exactly what Washington needs at the wide out positions. Both are good downfield blockers and both know how to go up and get the ball. It doesn’t hurt that in addition to their size both players are very fast. In the case of Davis, we’re talking about blazing speed. Still, for all the talent most of it is unproven.
I was surprised to see Jennings available at the end of the 6th round but simulation after simulation had him still on the board. He could definitely compete for a roster spot on this team. Just ask Will Grier.
