The AAF quarterbacks: Taking a look at the league’s 8 starters
San Diego Fleet: Mike Bercovici
College: Arizona State
AAF coach: Mike Martz
Mike Bercovici had a strong finish to his college career at Arizona State with 30 passing touchdowns, six rushing touchdowns, and nearly 4,000 passing yards.
He spent two years with the Chargers in the NFL before getting a quick shot in Arizona with the Cardinals, and now he is back on the West Coast with the San Diego Fleet and head coach Mike Martz.
Bercovici is getting perhaps the most interesting coach in this entire league. Martz’s offense in the NFL was once one of the most highly respected, and he helped develop “The Greatest Show on Turf” with the St. Louis Rams before getting shots with the Lions, 49ers, and Bears as an offensive coordinator.
He hasn’t coached since 2011 so this is going to be a really fun team to watch throughout the season.
Bercovici is a solid all-around athlete but struggled in his preseason reps with the Chargers. He has a chance to right the ship in San Diego once more.
