Super Bowl matchup:  Chicago Bears vs. Indianapolis Colts

These were two of the hottest teams in the NFL going into the playoffs and the scary part is it felt like both were ascending a year earlier than expected. The Chicago Bears went from 5-11 to 12-4 in 2018 with a rookie head coach in Matt Nagy. The Indianapolis Colts went from 4-12 to 10-6. Each got a taste of what they could be in the playoffs before having their years cut shorter than expected. That is often how Super Bowl teams are born.

It would be a matchup filled with so many subplots:

  • A rematch of Super Bowl XLI
  • GM Chris Ballard going against the team who gave him his NFL break
  • Matt Nagy facing the team he jilted to join the Bears
  • Old gun in Andrew Luck vs. young gun in Mitch Trubisky

The list goes on. It would be a fascinating repeat of what happened 13 years ago, perhaps with a chance for the Bears to avenge their Super Bowl defeat at that time or merely a reminder that the Colts are still a notch above them on the NFL totem pole.
