Kareem Hunt signs with Chicago Bears

Kansas City isn’t the only team that could be a great running back from a title. The Bears ran the ball well enough in 2018, but it never felt like they could do it at will. Jordan Howard, while a steady and dependable runner the past three years, clearly isn’t an ideal fit for head coach Matt Nagy’s offense. He finished with a career-low 3.7 yards per carry average this past season and his lack of receiving prowess was something Nagy had to work around.

So one can imagine the urges he has to fight off when Kareem Hunt became available. The former Pro Bowler was the NFL rushing champion in 2017 when Nagy was the offensive coordinator in Kansas City and a dual-threat nightmare. He could bring that scheme to full bloom in Chicago. The problem isn’t financial. Hunt is in big trouble off the field.

He was caught on camera both shoving and kicking a woman in a Cleveland hotel. Expectations are he’ll be suspended for at least 4-6 games. After that, it becomes a matter of whether the Bears wish to endure the PR black eye they’d receive for signing a man who beat up a woman. It’s a tough call. Still, if the Bears got the Hunt who was dominating before being released? That team with that defense would be an immediate favorite to go the distance.
