Round 3, 75 Overall: Charles Omenihu, EDGE, Texas

I can hear the exhales from Packers fans indicating that it’s about time the Packers got someone on the edge.

The Packers desperately need help rushing the passer, especially with both Nick Perry and Clay Matthews on the decline (and possibly on the way out). Kyler Fackrell, their third round pick in 2016, led the team in sacks in 2018 (which was a surprising development).

It’s important for the Packers to find players who are explosive and creative on the edge. It’s all about getting to the quarterback quickly these days, and in the third round, Green Bay finds a steal.

Charles Omenihu had a very good week at the Senior Bowl. He played both on the interior and on the edge for one-on-one drills, and had a productive week in both spots. Omenihu has very long arms, and uses his explosiveness and strong hands to win in a multitude of ways on the edge.

Adding his versatility to this defensive line would be a treat for defensive coordinator Mike Pettine.
