First round,12th overall: Jonah Williams, OL, Alabama

I can already feel some of the anger and disappoint from Packers fans reading this selection.

Offensive line? Why on earth when the edge class is so deep?

Well, if the first 11 selections are defensive line heavy, which many expect, the Packers could be looking at trading back here with not much value on the board. For now, we will say they won’t.

Four edge rushers were gone by this pick, and none available were worth the 12th selection. Instead, the Packers opt to strengthen the offensive line. Aaron Rodgers was pressured a lot last season, and the running game was a roller coaster affair.

Alabama lineman Jonah Williams could fix a lot of issues right away. If Green Bay ops to keep Bryan Bulaga at right tackle, Williams could move inside to guard, where a lot of NFL teams like him better, and many believe he can be a Pro Bowler at that spot. If the Packers cut Bulaga, Williams moves to right tackle in a seamless transition.

Williams did an excellent job against top competition all season for the Crimson Tide. He is a powerful player who latches on to defenders and stops their rush in their tracks. He moves pretty well for his size and can create space in the run game, which is why many believe guard is his best position. Building a strong offensive line is important down the stretch for Rodgers and the run game.
