06. Bruce Matthews (Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans)

There is an argument to be made that Bruce Matthews is the greatest offensive lineman in NFL history. That’s not a joke. He’s the only player who can proclaim he went to at least three Pro Bowls in his career at three different positions. He went to three as a right guard, four as a center, and the final seven as a left guard. The guy was a machine for the 296 games he played, blocking for fellow greats like Warren Moon, Eddie George, and Steve McNair.

It’s not like he lacked opportunities to get a ring either. During his prolonged run, the Oilers and Titans made the playoffs nine times. Several other names on this list never had that luxury. Still, Matthews’ teams just never had what it took. He was part of the epic collapse by Houston in Buffalo in 1992, still the greatest comeback in NFL history, and then in 1999 watched his season end one yard short of a title in the Super Bowl against the Rams. Just brutal.
