Kareem Hunt, Kansas City Chiefs

Best fits: Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers

After a stellar rookie season with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017, Hunt was on his way to another Pro Bowl year with 14 touchdowns in the Chiefs’ first 11 games before video evidence of him shoving and kicking a woman outside his hotel room surfaced.

The Chiefs wasted no time after the video was released and cut Hunt, despite the fact that he quickly became one of the top 3-5 best backs in the league.

Hunt’s acts off the field are heinous and will result in a suspension from the NFL, but the prevailing thought right now is that he will play in the NFL again, regardless if people like it or not.

With that being the case, I think there are a couple of situations where Hunt could get another opportunity in the league.

One team that could potentially take a risk on him (he’s not likely to command a ton of money this year) is the San Francisco 49ers who need pieces offensively. The only issue with that is, the 49ers just released Reuben Foster amidst his off-field issues, so that doesn’t seem overly likely to happen.

The Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears each have coaches from the Andy Reid coaching tree and could be fits for Hunt to get his life and football career back on track.

The Bears seem like the best spot with head coach Matt Nagy having spent a year working directly with Hunt on the Chiefs.

Nagy would have to convince Ryan Pace and Bears management that it could work, and they would also have to trade Jordan Howard to make this work football-wise, but that’s a situation that could be favorable to Hunt in a system he knows well.
