Nick Foles, Philadelphia Eagles

Age: 30

Nick Foles has two straight seasons of postseason experience including a Super Bowl MVP trophy, leading the Eagles in Carson Wentz’s place in the 2017-18 season.

Foles has been somewhat of a journeyman in his career but has done exceptionally well with the Philadelphia Eagles under Andy Reid and Doug Pederson.

Foles’ playoff experience, clutch play, and big arm should entice some team into a relatively large multi-year contract this offseason. The Eagles could hold out for a trade but that could prove costly as Foles has a $20 million option.

The best solution for both parties is for Foles to walk as a free agent and the Eagles recoup a third-round draft choice in the 2020 NFL Draft, where teams are going to be attempting to load up on picks.

I was really down on Foles early in his career and thought his success early on with the Eagles was more of an anomaly than anything else, but he’s consistently proven me wrong and at the age of 30, I think he’s just as viable a starting option for some team as Case Keenum was last year, if not more so.

I think Foles is set for a deal worth north of $20 million per season this offseason and right now the favorites to land him have to be the Jacksonville Jaguars, whose new offensive coordinator — John DeFilippo — coached Foles in 2017 with the Eagles.

Foles has proven himself capable of leading an offense and capitalizing late in games with big throws and great poise. The better the roster around him, the higher I think his ceiling is right away.

Foles is a strong free agent option entering the prime years of his career.
