. Edge. Ohio State. Nick Bosa. 1. player. 32

The Arizona Cardinals don’t have to make this decision overly difficult. Unless they want to try and trade back and perhaps give this pick up to some team desperate for Bosa or a quarterback, they should just take the top player on their board and pair him with the piece they acquired last year in Josh Rosen.

GM Steve Keim is probably on the hot seat after hiring Kliff Kingsbury out of college but he’s also clearly all in. He and the Cardinals need to make sure they don’t miss with this top pick.

player. 42. . Edge. Kentucky. Josh Allen. 2

Josh Allen has been so productive it’s no longer possible to ignore the fact that he’s just a phenomenal football player.

The 49ers have so much talent on the defensive front, but they lack a true presence off the edge. Allen could be the missing piece for the 49ers’ talented front and give them someone off the edge who can close on the quarterback and take advantage of the interior pressure from Arik Armstead, DeForest Buckner, and Solomon Thomas.

DL. Alabama. Quinnen Williams. 3. player. 30.

The Jets could just as easily go with Quinnen Williams’ teammate Jonah Williams in the first round, but the talent of the defensive lineman is simply too much to pass up on.

The Jets’ defense is one of the most interesting up-and-coming units in the NFL, and Williams would fortify an already talented defensive front. He’s so hard to block from the interior defensive line and has the ability to wreck games from the inside out.

player. 28. . DL/Edge. Michigan. Rashan Gary. 4

The Oakland Raiders have three first-round picks in this year’s NFL Draft, and they start this mock draft off by taking Michigan’s Rashan Gary. Gary played his college ball with Maurice Hurst, a breakout rookie for the Raiders this past season.

I’m sure Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock would love the idea of pairing those two together again. This pick could change significantly based on how Gruden/Mayock spend their money in free agency, but Gary is a phenomenal football player who can move all around a defensive formation.

. DL. Mississippi State. Jeffrey Simmons. 5. player. 48

Over the course of this past season, Jeffrey Simmons proved himself to be one of the most disruptive forces in the country and in a deep defensive line class, his abilities stand out.

He may not go this high if teams don’t like what they discover from his personal background, which includes some off-field concerns.

There are rumors floating around that Gerald McCoy could be a cap casualty for the cash-strapped Bucs this year, so drafting a player like Simmons would make sense from that perspective as well.

Ohio State. Dwayne Haskins. 6. player. 31. . QB

The New York Jets have to get a successor for Eli Manning at some point. They also have so many roster needs it’s hard to justify this selection.

The idea of having a core group offensively of Haskins, Saquon Barkley, and Odell Beckham Jr. is attractive on paper, and Haskins may not need as much time to transition as people think.

He’s a quick processor and puts the ball exactly where it needs to be. He does a good job of reading coverages and is mechanically a sound prospect at the position. The Giants could do a lot worse when looking for a QB of the future.

Jonah Williams. 7. player. 52. . OT. Alabama

Whoever the Jacksonville Jaguars peg as their next quarterback, he’s going to need some better protection.

Jonah Williams is a technician at tackle, but some feel he could play guard at the next level as well. He would fit what Tom Coughlin typically likes to do in using high selections on trench players.

50. . Edge. Clemson. Clelin Ferrell. 8. player

The Detroit Lions could be in the market for a new top dog at the defensive end position if Ezekiel Ansah walks in free agency.

Clelin Ferrell proved over the course of this past season that he’s not just the product of a great defensive line, but a game-wrecker in his own right.

Matt Patricia would love to have this kind of player coming off the edge in his defense.

Cody Ford. 9. player. 16. . OL. Oklahoma

The Bills invested heavily in Josh Allen last year. They need to use their top assets this offseason to surround him with talent and protect him.

Cody Ford is another player scouts and analysts feel has the potential to play inside or outside at the next level, and the Bills could use help in both spots.

45. . QB. Missouri. Drew Lock. 10. player

John Elway needs to nail his next quarterback selection, or the Broncos are facing a rough road ahead with Patrick Mahomes in the division. If they want to be able to keep up with Kansas City in the AFC West, he has to get someone who can sling the ball around the yard.

Lock is not a perfect prospect coming out of Missouri, but he has a heck of an arm and is extremely competitive.
