Will Grier (South)

West Virginia quarterback Will Grier leads the physically gifted South quarterbacks.

Grier has the arm strength to make every throw on the field, and makes some extremely good throws down the field thanks to his touch on the football. He can also make good throws in awkward stances.

Where Grier needs to improve is within the structure of an offense. Getting intermediate throws out on time and in rhythm would elevate his stock. He also holds on to the football too long and takes sacks.

Working with Kyle Shanahan may help him significantly this coming week.

Gardner Minshew (South)

Gardner Minshew has had quite a journey this past season after transferring from East Carolina.

Minshew led Washington State to their best season in recent memory, including a bowl game victory. When it comes to his projection as a quarterback, he falls in with the group vying to be taken on day two. Minshew won’t blow anyone away with his arm, but he is good in the short and intermediate parts of the field and works through reads to make plays.

He is a great leader and has great toughness to take hits in the pocket. His accuracy down the field and his limited arm will be major questions this week.

Tyree Jackson (South)

Tyree Jackson was recently added to the Senior Bowl roster. Jackson has immense raw talent, which includes great arm strength and the ability to fit passes into tight windows at times.

However, Jackson was probably better suited to stay another year in school. He has a long delivery and the ball just doesn’t come out of his hand comfortably. He misses by wide margins all over the field at times, and will need to work on reading a full field.

It will be interesting to see how he handles this coming week.

Jarrett Stidham (South)

Jarrett Stidham was higher on everyone’s boards entering the season, but slowly saw his stock fade into the woodwork. Now, his bad season isn’t all on him. The offensive line wasn’t very good and he didn’t have a lot of talent around him on offense.

However, he needs to fix some things to survive in the NFL. He has the arm strength, but he needs to reign it in and develop more touch to every level of the field. He also makes bad decisions when pressured, and needs to limit turnovers.

But, as we’ve said, the quarterback field is wide open just begging for someone to enter the spotlight.
