The loss in New Orleans certainly had an air of finality for Nick Foles. Odds are things won’t be the same after this coming offseason for him.

The Philadelphia Eagles are in the midst of a significant financial bind. Their salary cap needs a ton of restructuring and it has to start with unloading some of their more expensive players. Foles may have to be included in that group. While he’s technically a free agent this year, the odds are Philadelphia won’t let him go without some sort of compensation. There’s just one problem.

Retaining him would cost $20 million by picking up the option in his contract. So if they do this, it would likely be for the sole purpose of shopping him to the rest of the league. He undoubtedly has value given his age and the recent run of success in the playoffs including that Super Bowl MVP award. It’s a matter of which teams out there are willing (and able) to make a move for him.

Cincinnati Bengals

With Marvin Lewis out, one can safely say that nobody in Cincinnati is safe anymore. That includes their quarterback Andy Dalton. He’s had himself a decent career since taking over in 2011 but the fact remains that he’s never been able to elevate his play when it matters. Dalton is 0-3 in postseason play with all three games being blowout losses. Foles is 4-1 in the playoffs with a Super Bowl ring. He could give the Bengals that element they’ve been missing.

Denver Broncos

More from NFL Mocks

John Elway historically prefers quarterbacks who are on the bigger side with a strong arm. That’s why his decision to go with Case Keenum was a bit of a departure from the norm for the Denver Broncos. Keenum didn’t exactly live up to the contract he received though. With Vic Fangio in town now, it may possibly lead to a change at the position yet again. Who better to go after then the man who helped knock Fangio’s previous team out of the playoffs?

Tennessee Titans

Are the Titans still committed to Marcus Mariota moving forward? One wouldn’t be surprised if they might be questioning that loyalty at this point. His play hasn’t been at what one would call franchise quarterback levels and he also continues to miss time with various injuries. It’s important to remember neither the head coach or GM who drafted him are there anymore. Foles beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl, so that is undoubtedly something that will impress former Patriot stalwarts like Mike Vrabel and Jon Robinson.

Miami Dolphins

If there is any team in a genuine crisis mode at quarterback, it’s the Dolphins. They seem intent on moving on from Ryan Tannehill after several years of teasing with no payoff. The team is about to undergo a substantial rebuild and the only way they can possibly speed it up is if they have a quarterback they can build around. Foles is experienced and still only 29-years old. With his steady hand, they may be able to shorten the turnaround to a couple of years rather than 4-5.
