Five Thoughts On The Natty

  • This was the first time I’ve ever seen Nick Saban panic. Some of his calls at the goal line, where they were stopped twice, and the fake field goal felt like desperation moves.
  • The 2020 receiver class is freaking legit. Jerry Jeudy and Tee Higgins are two names to watch, along with Henry Ruggs, Amari Rodgers, and Devante Smith. Get ready for a fun summer talking about that group.
  • The Jonah Williams-Clelin Ferrell matchup was outstanding. Both had very good games and had impressive wins, the most impressive when Ferrell bull-rushed Williams to the ground on a running play.
  • Tua Tagovailoa has work to do before the 2020 draft. He has great touch down the field, but he doesn’t see pressure coming at times and doesn’t read the field quickly. He has a ton of talent, but improvement can be made.
  • Trevor Lawrence is the most impressive quarterback prospect I’ve seen. I wasn’t scouting back when Luck came out of school, so I can’t speak on then. But from what I’ve seen, Lawrence is impressive. He has the arm talent and the ability to throw receivers open. He still has two more years to wait.
