Robbie Gould (K)

This is the dream scenario for nostalgic Bears fans. The benefit of hindsight always makes things look worse. The fact is Robbie Gould was struggling towards the end of his tenure in Chicago. He was missing a number of key kicks and just didn’t seem like himself. At last, the Bears felt it was time for a change. While the move had a few skeptics, most generally agreed with it. Sometimes a player needs to have his job security threatened to snap out of a funk.

That’s exactly what happened to Robbie. Since leaving the Bears, he has made a whopping 82 of 85 field goals attempted during his runs with the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers. He’s clearly back in his groove and playing great football. The key though is he’s 38-years old. Kickers can last a long time but how much does he have left? If the Bears want to bring him back, odds are it will be on a short-term deal.
