New York Jets

Prediction: Adam Gase

Known Candidates: Kliff Kingsbury, Jim Caldwell, Kris Richard, Adam Gase, Mike McCarthy, Eric Bieniemy, Todd Monken

The Jets need to bring someone in to work with, develop, and make Sam Darnold into a star.

Adam Gase earned his first head coaching job in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins after helping the Denver Broncos to the best year of offensive production the NFL has ever seen, at least in terms of points scored.

Gase’s offense in Denver was tremendous, amplified by the fact that he had Peyton Manning. He went to the Chicago Bears as an offensive coordinator with John Fox in 2015, but the Bears’ offense struggled.

After he was hired by the Dolphins, Gase’s offenses ranked in the 20s, an unacceptable figure given his offensive background.

Despite his lack of success (overall) with the Dolphins, Gase seems like a strong candidate to come in and help develop Sam Darnold. He would also need to bring a strong defensive coordinator along with him, as the Jets’ defense appears to be the backbone of the team going forward.
