Denver Broncos

Prediction: Zac Taylor

Known Candidates: Chuck Pagano, Zac Taylor, Mike Munchak, Vic Fangio, Brian Flores

Is Zac Taylor ready to be a head coach in the NFL right now?

That remains to be seen.

The Denver Broncos don’t really have the luxury of wondering if he will be a strong candidate down the line, but if they think he will be, they need to make the investment in their future.

Much of Denver’s reported coaching search has hinged on experience. While at first the notion of combining Taylor with Gary Kubiak offensively seemed a clear recipe for a power struggle, the idea seems to be gaining more and more merit and actually makes quite a bit of sense.

Elway never wanted to part with Kubiak as his head coach, and with rumors swirling that Kubiak could take a coordinator position elsewhere, it seems Elway convinced him to stay as a member of the offensive staff in some way, shape or form.

With Kubiak expected to return to the Broncos, what better role than as a mentor to a young coach who brings the innovative type of offense to Denver Elway also covets? Kubiak can help Taylor prepare for game days, implement his system, and generally be hands on while Taylor absorbs all the responsibilities of the head coach.

It sounds like a win-win-win for Taylor, Kubiak, and Elway.
