John Elway is bulletproof these days in the Denver Broncos organization. That’s no surprise given his relationship with ownership.

Not to mention his long history of success as a player as well as the Super Bowl victory he claimed as team president back in 2015. That said it doesn’t make him the most popular person with a lot of people in and around the organization. For the first time since 1971 and 1972, the Broncos experienced their first back-to-back losing seasons. The fact it came under Elway’s watch is undoubtedly a major embarrassment.

That’s why head coach Vance Joseph was fired and Elway has begun his search for what will be the fourth coach he’s hired since 2011. At the same time, he got himself into some hot water when he answered a question recently regarding whether the team might consider trading star veteran Von Miller. Elway stated they would consider all the possibilities and admitted everybody on the roster, including Miller, needed to play better.

Considering Miller had 14.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, and his second career interception in a seventh Pro Bowl season, that might not have been the best choice of words.

More from NFL Mocks

One person who wasn’t having any of that was Miller’s mother, Gloria Miller. When she caught win of the blog post regarding that comment by the Broncos VP, she unloaded a fiery comment on Instagram that called Elway into question about his own series of mistakes. Especially the ones regarding the mismanagement fo the quarterback position.

"“Not because he’s my Son but, he’s the main reason Denver won the Super Bowl. Von’s NOT the problem the problem is Elway … EVERY QB he’s brought in was a fluke!! He wants to halfass pay the vets but wants them to perform at a high caliber. He has no clue on drafting at any position. He needs to work on an offensive line & QB. Trading Von isn’t the answer but best of luck with that. Elway has wasted more money on QBs than ANY TEAM IN THE NFL. I get it it’s easier to blame Von but it’s NOT HIM. #WhatupDallas #SendJerryJobysNumber”"

It may be a bit emotional but she makes a fair point. Miller has been the best player on that roster since he was drafted. He isn’t the problem. The quarterbacks have been. Elway has only made one good move there to this point since he took over and that was the no-brainer decision of signing Peyton Manning. All of the others like Brock Osweiler, Paxton Lynch, or Case Keenum have ended it considerable failures.

At what point does Elway start taking more criticism for that rather than him being able to call great players like Miller out for not doing enough?
