Ranking the NFL head coach openings by most desirable
By Erik Lambert
02. Green Bay Packers
Most people will assume there’s one reason this team is second on the list, and that’s fair. Aaron Rodgers is the best quarterback in the business. Sure he didn’t have a ridiculous season in terms of overall numbers but his slightly average year would be considered excellent for most other quarterbacks. He’s in his mid-30s and should still have a good five-year window left in his prime barring injuries. Any coach will see that as prime opportunity to win a Super Bowl.
That said, the Packers aren’t completely without talent elsewhere. They have some young pieces on defense that are worth building around and they have capable personnel on offense, though health remains an issue. What this team needs is somebody who can set a clear direction and identity for it while putting a more innovative system around Rodgers. If done properly, this team is still capable of getting back into the hunt.
