07. Cincinnati Bengals

Marvin Lewis finally lost his iron grip on the Bengals that he’s maintained for 16 years. The good news is he didn’t leave the team in completely dire straits. They have some reasonable talent on the roster both offensively and defensively. The problem is most of their stars are beginning to reach their age limits. That includes A.J. Green and Geno Atkins. They may also be nearing a change at quarterback with Andy Dalton‘s best days behind him.

There is a lot of work for the next coach to do. He’ll have to fix a number of position groups that have fallen on hard times and most important instill a renewed set of expectations and demands on the players. Something that few within the organization were openly concerned about. It’s not an outright rebuild situation but it will take a year or two before this team is back in the playoff picture barring a stellar 2019 offseason.
