Round 3, Pick 65

Chris Lindstrom – OG – Boston College

The Cardinals will have to double down on offensive line help, maybe even triple down later in the draft. The Cardinals have given up the eighth-most sacks in the NFL, if they want Rosen to have time in the pocket and not get discouraged, they must keep him protected. They spent a lot of draft capital to make him their franchise quarterback and now it is time to protect that investment.

Lindstrom moved around from tackle to guard in college but played best on the interior as a guard. In large part due to his excellence in run blocking. Lindstrom uses his big body and big hands to drive defensive lineman backwards opening up running lanes. He has a quick first step and plays until the whistle. Lindstrom is a very polished run blocker and would likely do wonders for David Johnson and the rest of the Arizona run game.

Boston College is not a super pass heavy team, which means there is not a ton of tape on Lindstrom pass protecting. In the tape where I did watch him pass protect I noticed how strong he is. He utilizes his quick first step to get his hands on opposing defensive lineman and immediately start blocking. He has a lot of power to stick with his man and not let him around him.

Lindstrom has a high football IQ and can effectively adjust to defensive line stunts and switches. He is not often caught off guard.
