The Arizona Cardinals look like the front runners for the first overall pick in 2019. With their franchise quarterback already locked up, what do they do?

It is no secret that the 2018 Arizona Cardinals season has not gone according to plan. After taking their franchise quarterback in the 2018 NFL Draft, there was a lot of hope in the desert. Unfortunately, things didn’t get much better this season after selecting Josh Rosen.

It is not that only Rosen is to blame. The Cardinals suffered through poor coaching in the first half of the season, have one of the worst offensive lines in football, and their rush defense has been among the worst in the league.

Luckily for Cardinals fans, with just one week left they find themselves with the top pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. That could mean good things are still to come in Arizona.

Round 1, Pick 1

Nick Bosa – DE – Ohio State

It is no surprise here that the Cardinals select Nick Bosa out of Ohio State. The Cardinals were terrible against the run this year. Bosa would certainly help this team on the line to set the edge. He would be lined up opposite of Chandler Jones, which would make one of the most lethal pass rushing tandems in the league.

The Cardinals also need offensive line help, which means they could trade down, but if they don’t Bosa is the pick, regardless of team needs. Bosa is one of the most polished prospects in the upcoming draft and is the consensus number one pick.

Bosa is one of the most smoothest and savvy edge rushers in recent years. He has the ability to move past lineman without being touched. He is able to dip his shoulder and go low, nearly touching the turf, but also has the ability to throw off lineman’s hands. Bosa’s hands are probably his best tools.

He has the ability to slap through the wrist or hand of a lineman and move his arm, while also following through with his arm to make sure that the lineman has no chance to reestablish a block. This is what makes Bosa one of the best outside pass rushers we have seen in the draft in years. Bosa will make an immediate impact for Arizona with both his run stopping and pass rushing abilities.
